Our nurses share a common journey. Early in life, they recognised that animal welfare was part of who they are and what they valued, so it was inevitable that a career in vet nursing was their destiny.

Being surrounded by those who share a similar journey, means you are working together with those who share your commitment to make sure each pet and pet parent is given the best chance for a happy & healthy life.

We take pride in everything we do

Our nurses' value the many aspects of their role, but one of the most invaluable parts of their role is support. As a vet nurse, they support the health & wellness of pets taking each opportunity to provide pet parents with information that is invaluable to the care of their beloved companions. Our nurses are invaluable in instilling trust with pet parents, having them feel reassured that their loved ones are safe in our care. They also proactively manage clinics schedule to ensure each pet can be seen by our vet team for various visits.

Within the clinical space, our nurses are actively involved in supporting the treatment and monitoring of surgeries and procedures, ranging from routine spays and castrates to more advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue. You may even get to support some of those unusual ones, like the caesarean of a lizard.

With an in-house lab and radiology equipment available within the clinic, they assist with taking samples and running tests for the work up of diverse cases. We will also facilitate opportunities for our nurses to contribute to the care of pets by empowering them to take consultations and lead in routine dentals.

Within this active clinic, we are seeking an experienced nurse who has demonstrated understanding of pre to post surgery preparation, monitoring anaesthesia during surgery and recovery, and admission to discharge processes (with administration of medication).

OurVet Pakenham is a team that has successfully adopted hundreds of kittens as our nurses love the rewarding feeling of finding their forever homes.

Committed to professional development and education, by joining us you will have access to a comprehensive induction program offering the essentials in clinic protocols and procedures, development workshops, an extensive library of online training modules (with credits available to meet CE requirements), and invitations to industry events and conferences.

Our culture is founded on work - life balance, so you will be rostered ordinary hours so you can get home at a reasonable hour. This role is a 75 - hour fortnight roster with only weekend shift on a rotating basis.
